Use a SAS card from American Express through the year and at some point an email arrives saying you have received a «SAS Amex 2 for 1-kupong». Many people leave it alone because they do not know what it does or when it expires.

It does this: you book an award trip for two and pay points for one. If the trip costs 60,000 points per person, you pay 60,000 in total instead of 120,000. Taxes and fees are charged on top for both of you.

## What the cards require and give

All three SAS cards carry the coupon. Classic is free and covers SAS flights within Europe only. Premium and Elite have a fee but cover the whole world and the SkyTeam partners. It is on the long routes that halving matters most, because points prices out of Europe are higher. Elite is the only card that gives the coupon in business, and the only one that can give two coupons in a year.

Spending is measured per calendar year. When you pass the amount you get an email, and the coupon sits on your EuroBonus account.

## How long it lasts, and how to use it

The coupon runs from the day you receive it to the end of the following calendar year. Earn it on 31 July 2025 and you can book until 31 December 2026. The booking date is what counts, not the departure. A trip booked between Christmas and New Year can fly in August the year after. The period cannot be extended.

You book on sas.no with no fee. Log in to your EuroBonus account first, or the discount will not show. Search as usual, choose «Betal med poeng» and look for departures marked SAS Bonus with a gold dot. The coupon has to be activated during the booking. SkyTeam trips go through a separate flow.

If you phone instead, the booking fee is 400 Swedish kroner. If the trip is with a partner, 450 kroner per person is added. The Norwegian number is +47 64 81 60 99, weekdays 09 to 17.

Cancel at least 24 hours before departure and the coupon goes back on your account. You can use it again as long as it is still valid.

## The catch

The coupon halves the price of an award seat. It does not create the seat. You need two award seats on the same departure in the same cabin, and two at once are rarer than one, especially in business and during holidays. Many people find that the coupon they have been saving for six months will not work on the trip they had in mind, and end up going a different week or a different way.

The other rules: at most two travellers per booking, so four people means two bookings and two coupons. One coupon per booking. No combination with other discounts, and no discount on trips paid with a mix of cash and points. You can book for family or friends. The points come out of your account.

Classic has a catch of its own. To use the coupon on SAS Plus, SAS customer service has to apply it for you. The terms call it a technical limitation. On SAS Go there is no such note. The wait can cost you one of the two seats.
